Definitions

The Wallace Group is a collaboration between seven universities from the United Kingdom; University of Durham, University of Bath, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Loughborough University, University of Northumbria, University of St Andrews, University of Stirling and The University of Edinburgh, each referred to individually as a ‘Party’ and collectively as the ‘Parties’. The term ‘the Wallace Group’ refers to and includes all seven universities.

Together the Wallace Group has been working collaboratively and has shared a commitment to support the development of sport in Zambia through ‘the Volunteer Zambia project’.

Wallace Group network‘ means any resources, which are used for the transmission or reception (either wholly or in part) of any data (including voice, email, video, web content or any other types or formats of data), which are owned or operated by or on behalf of the Wallace Group.

The ‘Operational Leads’ are the group of individual points of contact within each University, responsible for managing and delivering the Volunteer Zambia project.

The ‘Wallace Group Directors’ is the committee responsible for reviewing the strategic direction and aims of the Volunteer Zambia project and is comprised of the individual Directors of Sport from the seven universities, or a representative thereof, plus a group of external persons appointed by the Wallace Group, who each hold an interest in or are associated with the delivery of the Volunteer Zambia project.

Project Volunteers’ are the group of staff and student volunteers recruited from the seven Wallace Group universities to engage in the Volunteer Zambia project.

Wallace Group Alumni’ are any individuals, staff or students, who have previously taken part in the Volunteer Zambia project.

While the Wallace Group tries to make the website available 24 hours a day, it reserves the right to suspend or withdraw access, without notice, to either the whole or part of the site, for any reason.

If you choose, or you are provided with, a user identification code or password for the website, then you must treat such information as confidential, and you must not disclose it to any third party.

The Wallace Group is committed to making its website as accessible and usable as possible, irrespective of the browser or platform used.

The protection of personal information collected and processed by the Wallace Group is legislated through the European and UK legislation, notably through the Data Protection Act 1998 (“the DPA”) and through rules on direct marketing activities as provided by Privacy and Electronic Communication Regulations. The Wallace Group takes its obligations to protect personal information and to uphold the rights and freedoms of individuals seriously.

Under the Wallace Group collaboration, the seven parties have entered into a Data Sharing Agreementto reflect and govern the sharing of personal data between them in relation to the Volunteer Zambia project.

The Wallace Grouprecognises that personal privacy is an important issue, and we support the protection of internet privacy as required by UK legislation.

Any personal details collected through this website and provided by you will be processed in accordance with the Act, and will only be used for the purpose stated at the time we request it. We will not sell, license or trade your personal information to others. We do not provide your personal information to direct marketing companies or other such organisations.
