British High Commissioner visits hubsite!

On Thursday 10th August 2023, the British High Commissioner to Zambia, Mr. Nicholas Woolley visited Sport in Action’s Chipata Hub-Site. Mr. Woolley was very impressed with Sport in Action’s commitment to bringing sport to communities throughout Zambia. Sport in Action has been working closely with the Wallace group, UK’s leading sports universities, to realize this commitment.

During his visit, he expressed his admiration for the enthusiasm and joy that sport brings to the hundreds of children who get the opportunity to play sport and interact with their peers. For Mr. Woolley, sport is a great educator.

“it is inspiring to see how Sport in Action uses it as a tool to reach kids through its life skills and Girls in Action programs which educates children on serious issues like HIV prevention, menstrual hygiene among others”

The High Commisioner was also fascinated by the high rate at which the Hub-Sites are growing.
“The wonderful thing is that all you need is space and passion to bring these opportunities to communities not only in Lusaka but across the country,” he said.

In wrapping up his visit, Mr. Woolley expressed his commitment to bringing a team from the High Commission to one of the Hub-Sites in Lusaka for an afternoon of fun filled with netball or football against some of the young competitors. It is a testament to Mr. Woolley’s commitment to sport, education, and the promotion of community wellbeing.

The visit by the High Commisioner to Sport in Action’s Chipata Hub-Site is a further demonstration of the British High Commission to Zambia’s commitment to supporting sport and education initiatives in Zambia. The High Commission’s ongoing commitment is essential to Sport In Action in delivering on its mandate of improving the quality of life through sport within communities throughout the nation.
