ACE2Zambia 2024 Fundraising Target Smashed!
This year the ACE2Zambia Team set out to raise money for this years construction project, and have fundraised a whopping £8309.
The money was raised through a number of different opportunties including company sponsorships such as Wentworth House, CampbellReith, AKT II, Turley, Naturbeads, as well as recieving a grant from the University of Bath Alumni Fund. Outside of this the team were very kindly donated signed shirts from Bath Rugby Club and Bath Football Club, which were raffled to raise funds, the team also hosted a pub quiz for over 70 people which raised almost £400.
This year the money will go towards the construction and labour costs of a new basketball and netball facility in Kanyama, Lusaka. The team will be renovating an existing dilapidated basketball court and expanding the site to include a netball court as well. In Kanyama, Sport in Action provides both Netball and Basketball courses for young people that are
designed to build on their soft skills. There is an abundance of talent amongst the young people in Lusaka, and its important that they have the facilities required to keep progressing in their respective sport.
At present, Kanyama is home to over 500 participants at the site (324 Netball) and (211 Basketball). These young people will benefit immensely from getting the modern, safe place that it once was back again.
