The Wallace Group and Sport in Action work with key partners to codesign and deliver sustainable sport programmes that provide a pathway for young Zambians to learn and cultivate new lifelong skills through participation, education, and leadership.

Our focus

Our principal focus areas are aligned to seven of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

  • Good Health and Wellbeing
  • Reduced Inequalities
  • Quality Education
  • Sustainable Cities & Communities
  • Gender Equality
  • Partnerships for the Goals
  • Decent Work & Economic Growth

Community hub sites

The principal focus of the Wallace Group is to support the work of Sport in Action in the area of sport development, primarily the partnership with the National Sports Council and Sports Federations to develop a network of sustainable community sport hub sites across Zambia.

The growth in community sport hub sites across Zambia has provided a platform for Sport in Action and the Wallace Group to engage with communities and deliver projects that help improve quality of life for people across the country, and beyond.

The Wallace Group and Sport in Action have developed a new partnership with World Netball that will see the successful community hub site model developed in Zambia rollout to the rest of Africa.

Sport in Action and the Wallace Group have joined forces with Duke of Edinburgh Zambia to deliver DofE’s globally recognised International Award through the network of community hub sites, helping young Zambians to become #WorldReady.

The organisation and structure of community hub sites has given rise to the development of several social enterprise initiatives that help to empower young Zambians by providing opportunities for them to learn and cultivate new lifelong skills, establish new businesses, and generate income for their families and community.

Capacity building

From our experience in Zambia over the last 20 years, we recognise that to ensure greatest impact the structures and practices we build must be sustainable. We work with Sport in Action to build capacity within local communities, helping to fund and maintain facilities and services within hub sites, whilst supporting a workforce development pathway.
