Partners

Over the years the Wallace Group have collectively developed strong relationships with key external stakeholders and partners, both in Zambia and the UK.

From our experience in Zambia over the last 15 years, we recognise that to ensure greatest impact, the structures, and practices we build must be sustainable.

This demands that we work closely alongside the Zambian Government, Sport in Action, and other Zambian based partner organisations.

Through Volunteer Zambia we have developed  strong working relationships with a number of external organisations, including our primary partners within the UK; UK SportEngland Netball, our charitable arm The Volunteer Zambian Foundation, and in Zambia; our primary partner Sport in Action, working with the Zambian government, the National Sports Council, the British High CommissionBritish CouncilZambian National Sports Federations and the University of Zambia.

Sport in Action (SIA) seek to improve people’s quality of life through sport and recreational activities. Founded in 1998, SIA was the first Zambian sports NGO and its programmes now positively impact the lives of thousands of children throughout the 10 Provinces in Zambia.

SIA staff, supported by a team of volunteers, work towards transforming the lives of children, many of whom come from challenging backgrounds. Through Sport for Development education programmes, they aim to enhance young people’s knowledge in topical areas of health and life skills, with a view to developing motivation, self-development, and self-reliance through social, cultural, and economic empowerment. The Wallace Group has been supporting the work of SIA for over 16 years.

UK Sport has a clear remit at the ‘top end’ of Britain’s sporting pathway, investing in initiatives nationally and internationally.

UK Sport’s initial involvement in the International Development through Excellence and Leadership in Sport (IDEALS) project aimed to increase the employability of UK Students and their international counterparts through a peer to peer sport-based programme that developed their sport, leadership and life skills.

IDEALS was established as a high quality, progressive and coordinated sports leadership development exchange programme for young people aged 20 and above. UK Sport continue to be involved with the Volunteer Zambia programme in an advisory role to the Wallace Group.

England Netball is the national governing body for England’s biggest female team sport. It oversees and is responsible for the strategic plan of the sport across the country. England Netball is a not for profit customer-focused sport business, aiming to deliver a first class member and participation experience.

England Netball work alongside our project to deliver sustainable development practises around the Zambian capital city of Lusaka. They work with Sport In Action and the Netball Association of Zambia to develop teams and training sites across Zambia.
